About GearAtlas

We help photographers and creators make confident gear decisions — with side-by-side comparisons, honest reviews, current offers, and a private gear locker in one calm place.

Why we exist

Buying camera gear is overwhelming. Specs are scattered, prices swing constantly, reviews contradict each other, and most comparison sites are cluttered with ads and stale data. GearAtlas was built to fix that: a single, fast, trustworthy place that understands what you're actually trying to do and tells you the truth about it.

What we do

  • Compare — side-by-side specs, sensor sizes, autofocus, video features, and price across cameras and lenses.
  • Recommend — describe your style, budget and workflow and get a tailored recommendation with the real tradeoffs.
  • Review — our own hands-on verdicts plus a consensus from expert, creator, and owner opinion. See our review methodology.
  • Plan kits — complete, optimised setups for travel, weddings, wildlife, video, and more — not just camera bodies.
  • Track current offers — retailer pricing and stock so you know what to pay and where to buy.
  • Manage your gear — a private locker for what you own, value, accessories, warranty, and upgrade plans.

How we stay honest

GearAtlas is free to use. We earn money through affiliate commissions and contextual advertising, but those never change what we recommend or the price you pay. Recommendations are driven by data and editorial judgment, not commission rates. When a price is indicative rather than live, we say so. Read our affiliate disclosure for the full picture.

Who's behind it

GearAtlas is an independent project based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada, built by photography enthusiasts who were tired of doing hours of research for every purchase. Our reviews are written and edited by real people who shoot the gear — every review carries a byline.
